The highest cable car in Europe rises directly up the shear north face of the Klein Matterhorn (3885m/ 12,780ft). Sailing smoothly thousands of feet above the glaciers leaves many people in silent awe of this eternal world of ice and snow. The descent on skis is somewhat less steep than the ascent in the cable car! (The cable car - carrying 100 people - can just barely be seen in the centre of this photo)
